About Primrose
A small Medway team, doing one thing properly.
Primrose Community Healthcare Limited is a domiciliary home-care provider registered with the Care Quality Commission and based in Strood, on the western bank of the Medway. We're new — taking on our first families across Strood, Rochester, Chatham and the wider Medway towns — and we're deliberately small.
Being new isn't something we hide. It means we have time. It means the person who picks up the phone is the same person who visits, plans your care, and stays as your point of contact. It means the carer at your door knows your road, your routine, and usually the next-door neighbour as well.
Why we started
Primrose was founded by a Medway-based team who had spent years inside larger home-care agencies and seen the same pattern repeat: rotas built around the agency's diary, not the client's day; carers who never quite stay long enough to be familiar; the family ringing an office that doesn't recognise them.
We wanted to run something different — small enough that the same handful of names carries the work, careful enough about training and DBS that families never have to wonder, and local enough that we know the GP practices, the district nursing team, and which Strood streets are a nightmare for parking.
The flower in the logo is deliberate. Primroses are one of the first flowers to come back each spring in the Medway hedgerows — quiet, unfussy, dependable. It's the standard we'd like every visit to live up to.
Our standards
The non-negotiables, before any of our carers meets a client.
Enhanced DBS
Every carer holds a current enhanced DBS check before a first visit. We pay for it; the carer never has to.
Verified references
Two references — one professional, one personal — confirmed by phone, not just by email.
Right-to-work checks
All documentation verified to UK statutory standards. We keep copies and re-check on expiry.
Mandatory training before a first shift
Manual handling, safeguarding (adults and, where relevant, children), infection control, medication awareness, basic life support and food hygiene — completed before a carer goes to a client.
Specialist top-ups
Dementia awareness, the Oliver McGowan training in learning disability and autism, end-of-life care and challenging-behaviour modules for carers working with clients in those situations.
A named supervisor
Every carer has a named supervisor in our office and a regular one-to-one. The person who books a shift is also the person on the phone if something on the shift isn't right.
Regulation
Registered with, and inspected by, the Care Quality Commission.
Primrose is registered with the CQC for the regulated activity of personal care, under location ID 1-17056933267. We're a new registration, which means our first inspection report and rating are still pending — when they're published you'll find them at the link below, and we'll publish them on this page exactly as they appear. We'd rather you read them for yourself than trust us to summarise.
